Raw Food Real World Recipe

So I wanted to share one of the mango salad recipes that I remember from this book, but even better really, I found another blogger who made one of the sushi recipes and added her own spin! I love her blog and I’m so happy to explore it more. Her post goes into great detail on how to put the recipe together. Like a lot of recipes in that book, it takes a fair amount of prep, but it’s something you get used to automating and maybe don’t make every day.

Or maybe you take an idea from it and modify to make it easier. In any case, this is a fabulous recipe from the book Raw Food Real World, a brain baby of the former friends Sarma & Matt, who have since parted ways but seem to be pumping out the recipes regardless, each on their own and I still follow them both. The book is beautiful and full of information, and Sarma has since written a new book, Living Raw Food that’s really awesome also.

Here’s the fabulous Margaret over at This Marvelous Life making her version of the Raw Food Real World Jicama Sushi Rolls. See her post for the full instruction, but here is the recipe and for you “read & modifiers.”

INGREDIENTS

Nori sheets (seaweed)- preferably untoasted

sushi ginger or thinly sliced ginger

For the Rice:

3 cups jicama

1/4 cup raw pine nuts (or pignolias)

1/2 Tbsp. sea salt

2 Tbsp. rice wine vinegar

1 1/2 Tbsp. agave nectar

Fillings:

mushrooms

2 Tbsp.  Olive Oil

1/4 cup Nama Shoyu (like soy sauce)

pea sprouts (or any kind of sprouts)

sliced cucumber

sliced carrots

watercress
